Araneus diadematus is one of the most common and best known orb weavers. It is easily identified by the distinctive white cross on the abdomen. This spider is most commonly called in England the 'garden spider', it is also known as the cross spider. This spider is common in woodlands, heathlands and gardens although human activity in gardens discourages them. It builds a circular orb web and can be found either sitting at the center of the web with its head down or in a retreat at the end of a signal line.

Great post Peter. You've really captured the translucency of this spider,although you could probably afford to lower the light levels marginally,and possibly sharpen a little too.
If I may,I'd like to try a wee workshop to give you an idea of what I mean....I'll post it soon.

Nice catch Peter! I like spiders and yours is beautiful. In Polish it is called Krzyzak [=Teutonic Knight - name taken from cross which knights of Teutonic Order have got on theirs cloaks]. Breat colours and details.
I've made workshop with another POV.

Needs a little adjustment in levels and a touch of USM to really make it stand out, a fine effort though Peter.
