nice capture but the colors are harsh, might try working with the curves tool to tone them down. i'd also crop closer to the flower and hummingbird.

Well timed capture, Jane.
At 1/250, the wings are a blur, suggesting the speed at which Hummingbirds flutter them to remain airborne.
Very good perspective again.

You have a lovely selection of bird images in your gallery.This one is well captured having caught him at the decisive moment of collecting nectar.The light conditions are a bit harsh...but we can't have it all eh?I liked the note.....TFS.

Hello Jane,

It is always more challenging (and nicer) to photograph hummingbird feeding from a flower (not from a feeder). I like the colors of your picture and the compo you did... But personally, it seems to me that you chose a very low speed (1/250s) to photography such a bird... The same picture using 1/1000s) will give you more details on wings and will keep the motion feeling....

I love this shot...such beautiful sky and the flowers...but of course no guesses for who takes the prize!...The birdie's posture is so cute...i 've always seen its flapping wings...but 've ne'ver seen its feet that are held together the way we humans clasp our hands together infront of us.
Very beautiful capture.
