[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've spent almost two hours trying to identify this butterfly. I think it's a tawny emperor. I'll do the notes based on that id, but if somebody decides I'm wrong, I won't be hurt:

According to Stokes' Butterfly Book (purchased this very weekend), the Tawny Emperor, Asterocampa clyton, these little fellows don't last long. Their life span is only a few weeks. Now for an interesting fact:
"The sight and odor of frass (fecal droppings) make caterpillars more easily discovered by predators. A marvelous behavior that reduces predation on these caterpillars is site cleaning. Tawny emperor caterpillars bite the pellets of frass they produce and remove them from the leaves on which they are feeding."
Sanitary caterpillars!!!

Hello Angelina
What a lovely composition! Nice pov, the butterfly looks to be treading so carefully over the stamens! Good colours and dof. Well done!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

nice composition and good DOF but i think the butterfly needs some sharpening and the flowers are overexposed--may be able to clean up in post processing.

Very nice. Again you have captured the butterfly feeding. Good color and focus showing the intricate detail of the wings. You must have many butterflies where you live. Here the birds eat them all or if we have a north wind they get blown to South America. Really, many of the Monarks travel across the Gulf on the wind currents on their way south. Anyway, another fine photograph and informative note...

Hi Angelina,
Nice shot, it looks like a Tawny, but not sure.
Perhaps a newly emerged version?
Have a look at a Tawny from 2005.
HERE
You compare :)
Good work.

Hello Angelina,
I think you're right: this is a Tawny Emperor. The ID problem is complicated by the great variation in eye-spots.
Fine sharp capture of the underside of the wings set in a pleasing compo. with contrasting neutral BG.

Hello Angelina
Beautiful shot of this butterfly, i love the positioning on the left corner with the set of flowers in the right.
The contrast is also noticeable the brown of the butterfly and the stark white petals of the flowers
