[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
this is Crystal Falls on Holland Creek, Vancouver Island.
Though it appears to be a night scene, the dim surrounding are mostly due to the neutral density filter used to allow longer shutter times.
I placed the camera low to the water so the swirling surface would come into the foreground.
The trick with photographing waterfalls is to capture some detail in the white water instead of having a blob of overexposed pixeles in the middle of the frame. Thus, bracketing and several exposures are often needed before a decent one is found.

nice water patterns to the left but on the right the main flow is a bit overexposed. focus is a tad soft in the near field too. my personal bias is that color is better than B&W.
