Dryomys nitedula (Pallas, 1779) is known as "Orman Yediuyuru, Hasancık (TR)" or "Forest dormouse (EN)". It is a member Old world mammal family, Gliridae.
They are called "dormouse, yediuyur", since hibernation period of glirids is long. The name is came from Ashab-ı Keyf in Holy Kur'an.
D. nitedula ranges in from Central Europe and the Balkans throughout Turkiye and European Russia to China and Palestine.
It is one of three species of its genus, Dryomys, in Turkiye. Second species of Dryomys is D. laniger, Toros woolly dormouse. records of the later came from the Toros (Taurus) Mts with several E Anatolia. Third one is D. pictus lives in only Cilo Mts in Hakkari and W Iran. Some authors accepted it as a subspecies of D. nitedula. There are some differences between both of forms, e.g. morphometric, bacular features.
D. nitedula inhabits in garden, forest etc. and poplars in steppic areas.
It has been recorded in all parts of Turkiye.

What a cute little one again! I'm amazed by the size of its eye, it is so big and so dark... This is a nice capture. We do feel the flash but I guess that there was no way to do differently! You caught nice details on its fur. This is well done with intersting notes as I didn't know this animal. Thanks!
