Hi,

Thanks to Batu(Peter) for the ID.
Male -Colotis fausta
- family: Pieridae
Small butterfly found in India.Pieridae are a large family of butterflies. There are about 700 species mostly in tropical Africa and Asia. They are characterised by mainly white or yellow coloration, often with black spots. The sexes usually differ, often in the pattern or number of the black markings.

Also sharing some Butterfly Facts I found interesting
______________________________________________
…butterflies don't have mouths that allow them to bite or chew…
They, have a long straw like structure called a proboscis which they use to drink nectar and juices. When not in use, the proboscis remains coiled like a garden hose.
Look carefully and you can see the proboscis this beauty is using to suck the nectar out of the flower

…butterflies taste with their feet…
Their taste sensors are located in the feet, and by standing on their food, they can taste it!All butterflies have six legs and feet. In some species such as the monarch, the front pair of legs remains tucked up under the body most of the time, and are difficult to see.
This one apparently had is doing the tasting and drinking simultaneously.

Lantana Rose Flowers:
____________________________
Lantana camara or the common lantana, Lantana hybrida or hybrid, and Lantana montevidensis or the trailing lantana is a woody shrub with large, rough leaves that belong to the Verbenaceae family, order Lamiales. The foliage is abrasive and smells of sage when crushed.

The bright blossoms attract butterflies. Differences in the hybrids vary with size and color of the flower. Lantana flowers can be multicolored with color combinations of pink and yellow, rose and gold, yellow, pink and purple, or solid colors of orange, red, yellow, pink, or white. After the flowers are spent small black berries appear and are poisonous.
Lantana is sensitive to frost. It grows best in full sun.

As I‘ve mentioned in one of my earlier posts, Lantanas make good hedges for homes. A common sight in our college campus, one can see butterflies hovering among these flowers. This one was taken in a hedge near my department last week.

Thanks for stopping by!!!!

Beautiful photo!
I love the shots where you can see the proboscis. Amazing little creatures, aren't they? It's details like the 'straw' that make nature photography such a wonderful hobby.

hi Irishues,
une belle image colorée, dans laquelle le papillon est bien placé. Il y a un manque de détail peut être du à un PP.

Hello Irishues,
your picture shows a male of
- Colotis fausta
- family: Pieridae
Unfortunately, the picture is very noisy and shows multiple artifacts of image processing so that structural details are largely suppressed.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Irishues.
Amazing pictured scene. Its beautifulness, colorfulness and composition are great. I also like details of the flowers and butterfly and nice BG. Bravo and TFS.
Alexei.

And here we seem to be again with perfect macro. This time it is the colors mixed in that make the picture. Composition of color, macro and notes make it wonderful.

Hallo Iris
I really fancy this photo. It is colourful and bright. To me yellow always creates the feeling of cheerfulness and a sunny atmosphere. This is exactly what I see looking at this image. The flower itself is vivid and creates a feeling of spring in the air. The combination of spring colours being yellow, pink orange and rosé a lovely combination and match well. The greenery as your background highlights the details of the butterfly well. In overall this is a warm and inviting to look at image. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
Ps.Thank you for adding me to your list of favourites. It is a great honour.
