Chortophaga viridifasciata (Nymph)

The greenstriped grasshopper ranges widely in North America and extends southward into Central America. Inhabiting lands dominated by midgrasses, it is more prevalent in grass meadows and slopes of the eastern United States than in the extensive western prairies. Its distribution is patchy in the western region, as the species usually occupies small areas that receive additional moisture by overflow or by subirrigation. Patches of western wheatgrass growing in swales, around ponds, and along streams are preferred habitats of this grasshopper. It also inhabits stands of smooth brome under irrigation or located adjacent to irrigated crops and lawns.

Well the grasshopper apparently has a liking for the Fiery colours and flowers!!!.Interesting lighting and nice composition. What's it that make those petals glisten in light...it does add life to the flower for sure...very well done Girl!

Nice original colors but what ate the petals off the right of the flower? The grasshopper? He seems to be looking backwards at you. Another fine photo and informative note. :)

Hello Angy,
Nice shot of a grasshopper nymph on a Firewheel flower. Maybe it is feeding on the stamens in the middle.
Fine sharp detail and placing of the grasshopper in this compo.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Angelina.
Very nice capture of this little insect on flower.Good focus,DOF and details.Beautiful colors too.Well done.
TFS,with greeting Milos.

I really like the combination of colors on this. I really hate grasshoppers. They ate all my garden one year. "Can you snatch this pebble from my hand Grasshopper" -David Carradine......I'm going to attempt to play with it....I do rather poorly at these edits so it is good practice.
