Dark-Necked Tailorbird (Orthotomus sutorius)
Size : Average 11 cm. Yet another shy quiet bird that was taken at Bukit Tinggi. It was in between foliage and with strong streaks of sunlight coming through I decided to go without fill flash and pushed the ISO to 1600 instead. I do not use any "noise reduction" software. Just Apple Aperture and Photoshop a little. Exposure was to the right to reduce whatever noise but at the expense of slightly blown highlights on the right leg of the bird.
Exposure details : 1/80 f/8 ISO1600 EV-1/3 Flash - Nil
Habitat : Broadleaved evergreen, semi evergreen jungle and mixed deciduos jungle, secondary growth, scrub, mangrove and locally in rural areas up to 1200m. |

Hi Phil, great shot, the light, colors and details are excellent. An realy extraordinary photo! Congratulation, Dan
Hi Phil,
You do not use any noise reduction software...I was looking for that one...:-)
1600 pfff...that's a lot...I wonder if 400D has a better sensor than the 350D:-)
Supertele 600 must be really super....even with the extender.
I like the light in the image; though I wonder it is mainly created through the sun or flash.
Cropping a
bit would have been an option; a matter of choice though.
Good work!

That is a lot of lens but it seems to do the job. I'm surprised it did so well at ISO 1600! No noticeable noise.
Nice work.
