Hi everyone,
I'm not sure what species of grasshopper this is. It was about 1.5 - 2cm long.
Thanks,
Joey

Hello Joe (That sounds like the beginning to a song!)
Great capture here! Wonderful detail and sharpness. It's fortunate that the creature can jump as it looks to be having a battle with the vegetation!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Joe,
Thanks for your mail. There are apparently three Tetrix species in UK: Tetrix ceperoi Bolívar 1887, Tetrix subulata (Linnaeus 1758) and Tetrix undulata (Sowerby 1806). I'm pretty sure it's a female of the third species.
It's a insect not that easy to spot - congratulations for your capture.
Best greetings,
Michal

Hi Joe.
I like your very impressive close-up picture. POV is so attractive. DOF is great. Composition is very good as well as the colours and details. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Joe!
This is one of the Tetrix species (there are some similar species, maybe Michal -cedryk, will be able to add some details more). This genus is easy to recognize because tese insects are one of the first active Orthoptera species from early spring. Moreover, as you can see on your picture this is not a larva - it has full developped wings what is unusual in Orthoptera during this period.
TFS this small but interesting species.
Greetings,
Radomir

A unique species of grasshopper, as Michal has pointed out, Joe.
The focus on the head region of the insect is pretty sharp.
The poor thing has lost a leg!
TFS and take care.
