The clouds over Cheney took on a beautiful appearance when contrasted with the slight greens fo the freshly cut grasses. Clouds such as this on the 2600 foot plateau of the West Plains, are somewhat common. Yet I wondered at the connections between earth and sky, field and rain, which clouds these were and did they forecast dampness in the future.

There are probably clouds and fields such as this in every part of America, yet today the clouds took on a much deeper meaning. I cannot say what it was because the thought was elusive to catch, yet the clouds were easy......strange and ironic, like deja vu. It isn't a moment in time that can really be captured.....but only experienced...Have you been in that position? With camera...and unsure of what you see, but only what you feel and not sure if it is sharable?

Wonderful shot , Bob. It's a really nice freeze of time.I like your PoV and the Dof.
The haysacks( as I learn from Joey's comments) makes the shot more interesting
TFS & Cheers

P.S: Quite overwhelmed by ur response today to my gallery.....And i read ur intro...Don't worry abt the noise and stuff Bob, I shoot with just a handycam...and at times it's frustrating, 'coz i see wonderful shots of others and mine get pretty noisy and blotched up. I realise there isnt much that i can do abt it right nnow,.....so i've decided to stick my neck out and be around...this place offers quite a lot to learn and most of all a bunch of wonderful selfless people who 're and are ever ready to help u to learn and grow...:)

That is what photography is all about. Trying to capture the essence of the moment. In the past professional photographers could manipulate their photos so that they would tell the story of that moment through that photographer's eyes. This is one reason digital photography is so powerful. Now we amateurs can tweak our photos too... not to change reality but to show it more clearly as cameras cannot record all our eyes can see and often don't record what we feel. I played with your photo a bit in a workshop. I realize that such "tweaking" runs counter to your experience as a news photographer where such action could cost you your job! Photography as an art I think is another matter. Art almost requires us to present what we feel... at least that's how I view it.

I have always loved such round hay bales in the sunlight. I think there are nice elements to this shot.

Bob,
Great PANORAMIC photography.
I agree with "joey". The haystacks are, ARE very well lit. Excellent composition.
The F/G is a bit dark; minor issue and easily fixable.
Encrease the exposure on the F/G and your home; dont even need a frame. Nothing to hide. The first bale on the left gives this image DEPTH. Very well done.
Best regards,
Mario.
Bob, please do a W/S yourself and "fix" that minor issue.

This one feels like home...driving home in the evening, soft air, golden color, hay baled and rolled.
There's something about hay that comforts most of us. As a child I loved that one painting of the women cutting hay. I imagined I was one of those ladies.
