This is a great capture of this beautiful bird. They are so nervous and hard to get a good shot of. Great colours with the bright coloured bird towards the calm BG.

A perfect shot, Gary,
I love this red face and it is sitting there so decorative. A wonderful moment.
I had 2 of them in my garden last winter, but the light was bad. Here you have beautiful colours although it was raining, I realy can see a drop on his feathers. Thanks

This would be fabulous if it were just a touch sharper. I think with a lens that size it really needs a tripod or at least image stabilization. You could try a faster shutter speed. It is a wonderful composition and the the colors are strong and natural.

là vous me rendez jaloux,je n'ai pas encore pu prendre cet oiseau avec mon 350D et j'aimerais bien reussir bientot.
le visage ressort vraiment tre bien,peu etre juste un leger manque de contraste mais cela vient peu etre de mon moniteur.

Sometimes the colours look better in the rain, giving them a mellower tone, as in this fine portrait of the Goldfinch, but the limited light availability is a disadvantage that you have coped with very well to produce this pretty sharp shot. Excellent BG and composition.

Hello Gary! Robins and goldfinches are so, so different here in North America; can see the similarity to the robin but our goldfinch is little, bright yellow and black.
