Qualicum Beach

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| I was on a trip to Comox, BC for business and I got to take a side trip over the weekend. I initially went to Qualicum Beach on Saturday afternoon. Some of my pictures turned out really well, but most turned out kind of flat and boring. I also forgot to bring a linear polariser. I went back Sunday morning to re-shoot and took some filters with me. The pictures overall came out better and the filters added a little more atmosphere. |

Hi Jennifer,
you're going to hate me at the end of this critique.
Firstly, this is a great compostion and point of view, it should be quite stunning.
There are several things that let it down.
Throw that filter in the bin, it's so 80's. Really!
Buy yourself some neutral density filters, they'll darken detail gently and more naturally.
There's a lot of pixelation in the shot, I'm not sure what's caused that. I don't recognise your camera, but I'm guessing it 6mp or more, so should be fine.
Are you using any software post processing?
Ending on a high, the subject matter is good. The narrow aperture to keep the fore and background in focus is super. Foreground interest is kept with the grasses.
Hate me?
Keep posting.
