[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Spent a pleasant hour watching these little chaps yesterday afternoon.
Riparia riparia, the Sand Martin, took a nosedive in numbers in recent years, due mostly to drought in Africa where it over-winters. Numbers now seem to be recovering well.

Taking flight pictures of swallows or matins is definetely not an easy job!
This one is great with sharp eyes and very nice action, showing the habitat and the nest.

Hello Ian,
Strange, but we've just now got back from a local sand pit where lots of Sand Martins nest. It's really hard to capture them as they fly so fast in and out of their holes. You've managed to catch this one really well with excellent focus on the head and sharp details. Very nice composition too!
