Red Dragonfly
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This red dragonfly was extremely flighty. Every time I approached him he flew a little way away and perched again. I really wanted to try a macro shot so inched my way along the wooden seat he had landed on taking a series of shots as I went. I think I was extremely lucky to get the camera as close to him as I finally did.
I wish I could give more detail on him but the insect books I have do not mention him and the only comprehensive Aussie field guide I have seen was really expensive. I did some research on the net and he is a Scarlet Percher dragonfly. I was really pleased to be able to ID him. |

Great picture! You captured fine detail in this dragonfly. I can even see the veins in his wings! The red colour is very vibrant against the dull background. Very nice!
