Well today I thought I would upload another photo featuring "gophers" because with three of them crowding out one another at one of their den entrances I saw it as somewhat a charmer of a photo.It appears that they don't see me but they do as so often with these little rodents they view you from their sides and not very often directly.They are a fairly nervous animal and have good reason to be so ,as they are food for foxes,hawks,coyotes and other predators.They are often the victims of people who swerve when driving their cars deliberately to hit them and the victims of bored youth who delight in shooting them for the "fun" of it(Jeffery Dalmer killed little animals just because he could,before murdering people)makes you wonder about some people doesn't it?I would never kill anything unless it was going to do me serious harm or if I had a need for food or if there was a health threat but destroying something that lives for no reason is just plain sick.I'm off the soapbox now and I hope you like these little ones. Cropped and resized using Paint.Net. Bob

Hello Bob,
Nice depth of field gives us superb details on all three of these cute Richardsons' Ground Squirrels, great job my friend.

Hi Bob, I have a shot (in my private collection) of 1 gopher. I'd be thrilled with 2, and you pull off 3. This is a great composition. Great use of your depth of field, to pull them all in and you've picked up great colour and detail. I like the catch light in those 3 eyes.

Thanks, John

Hi Bob.
What a great shot, the look on those faces caught perfectly. Detail, colour, focus, DOF all spot on.

What a great shot Bob! This is so cute and amusing. You had a great timing to catch them all with their little head out. They are beautiful creatures and I just don't understand some crazy people that can arm living creatures, this is way over my comprehension. I have seen a movie about Jeffrey Dalmer and the guy was sick. Those “normal” people who hit them with their cars just for fun are in my mind as sick as he is ;) OK, enough for the psychological concern here. Let's enjoy beauties of nature and this superb picture :) Thanks,
Claudine

High cute factor and a great title Bob.
Very good DOF with all three in nicely. Excellent details and natural colors as well.
And the soap box..well every now & then even a rodent needs someone to speak up for it :)

It's a sad fact that humanity will always have those who have no respect for nature. They are actually at odds with it, missing the mark entirely. OK - I'm off the soapbox now ;}
