Dear Dear...there's not too much grass to be found here to feed on.I guesss they go hungry a bit at this time of year...or start eating the trees.
I've heard that there are deer in our forest on Pirongia.A bit of a disaster really,as they ravage our native bush.
Some have escaped from deer farms adjoining the reserve and some have been released by irresponsile hunters.
Its true...some Kiwis (especially some farmers) don't care about our native forests at all :(

Mike, A great shot here. This would make a pretty good postcard in its own right. A classic pose on the edge of cover,as it looks for danger. Excellent detail.

Focus on the head is a bit soft but otherwise this is a great picture. Excellent composition! TFS!
