White Morpho (Morpho polyphemus
Identification: Both upper and lower sides are shining white, with few brown markings. Underside of hindwing has a row of small eyespots.
Life history: Eggs are laid singly on host plants.
Flight: May-November in Mexico.
Caterpillar hosts: Paullinia pinata (Sapindaceae); Inga (Fabaceae).
Adult food: Rotting fruit.
Habitat: Tropical premontane forests with a distinct dry season.
Range: Costa Rica north to Mexico. A rare stray to southeastern Arizona.

Many beautiful butterflies but not so many that stay put long enough to take a pic... this one was cooperative.. |

Hi Nina, very nice butterfly and an excellent composition. Good details and the DOF is good. There is some noise in the BG the removal of which would improve the image. Well done.

Très belle composition. J'aime bien le format carré pour cet image. Un passage sur neatimage rédurait le bruit. Bon travail.

J'ai eu l'opportunité d'aller faire un tour au Jardin Botanique et de voir in visu ces superbes papillons. Mais il y avait beaucoup de gens et il y est interdit d'utiliser un trépied, et pour cause!
Agréable présentation malgré le 'bruit' derrière.

J'ai eu le plaisir de voir ce papillon en liberté!
Quel exploit de pouvoir le photographier lorsqu'il est posé sur un tronc d'arbre...la foule devait trop l'exciter le jour où je suis passée.
J'apprécie beaucoup la netteté des couleurs qui rend bien la texture des ailes.
