Pythons are the most massively built snakes found in India. They grow to an average length of 4 m with the relative girth exceeding that of all other snakes, and weigh 70 to 129 pounds on an average. The longest recorded specimen measured 19 ft 2 in (5.85 m) (Cooch-Behar, West bengal).
They exhibit vestigial bones of the hip and rear legs, which are externally apparent in the form of a pair of anal spurs on each side of the cloaca.
This specimen was rescued from Siliguri city, West Bengal & was later released in the wild.
