[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the white eyed version of the Eastern Towhee and is found in the southeast part of the US. In this fellow's case, Florida. The northern version has a red eye. The white-eyed version also has less white on it's tail from the northern and has more calls than the well known " drink urrr teeeeeee". As you can see this guy was singing away under the foliage of a small tree.

Up here in the northeast they are very shy and it is rare to get an obstructed shot of one as they hide in the brush scrathing around for food. The white eyed version in Florida are much more friendly and have what we call real "southern hospitality" and allowed me to approach them within four feet. Of course I always gave them some shelled peanuts in return, so I guess it was a good exchange for us both!

I have been in Florida for a couple of weeks so now that I am back I hope to be a bit more active here!

Nice image Lesley, may be a little sharpening or a neat image application with filter and sharpen would improve the effect of this photo but nice composition and timing. TFS

Superbe présentation, les couleurs et la netteté sont parfaits. La pose de l'oiseau et la prise de vue fait de cette photo une très bonne composition.

Lesley, Excellent composition, colors and sharpness. Remarkable eye this Towhee has! My version here in Texas (Rufous-sided Towhee)has a blood red eye that I like..Very well done!
