I believe this to be a juvenile Robin rather than the young Dunnock. Juvenile Robins can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage being a rather spotty brown in colour. We have Robins and Dunnocks in the garden but i am sure this is the Robin.

Robin ( Erithacus ruvecula ) Length 14cm ( 5.5 in )
Foungd in almost every garden the Robin is one of our tamest Birds. Will happily feed alongside humans as they work in the garden. Will often take live food such as Earthworms from the hand. Robins become even more confiding in the winter when the wether is bad as they are vulnerable to food shortages caused by snow and ice. Breeds from March-August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Layes 4-6 pale bluish-white eggs, lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. Often two broods per year. Highly territorial with the resident male seeing off any intruders. Feeds mainly on Insects although will also take seeds and fruit in winter.

Hi Nicholas

Wow, what a capture. Unfortunately I cannot see what your focal distance was on this shot, but it seems like if you got any closer you would have poked your lens in this little bird's eye. I like how the rustic wooden frame compliments its colours.

A great close-up shot with lovely colours and great details. The composition and POV is excellent with the bird sitting in its "ready made frame". The BG is nicely isolated to enhance the subject and the exposure was very well managed.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot
