Hi Nick,
this isn't a Fritillary because of the wings. It is almost definately a Comma.
Sharp with beautiful colours and detail.

It is a Polygonia c-album (Linnaeus, 1758).
Known as Comma butterfly in english.

This is an exceptionally fine shot! The light is great, obviously the sun was low. The butterfly is holding out its wings beautifully and the colours and detail are just great!

It is a very cheerful and sunny capture of this comma.
Beautiful composition with the "urtica" as a perch, I would have lowered a bit yellow saturation, but only a personal taste. Good details and grat use of available DOF.

Definately a Comma Nick...watch out for the very small "'" comma mark under the underwing. Seems to be a lot of them about at the moment. Good lighting here brings out the colour and detail nicely. Best, Brat.

belle image colorée de ce papillon qui a l'air un peu fatigué. Il y a une très belle lumière qui donne une grande clareté à l'ensemble. Excellent POV, BG bien géré.
