Canada Goose molting (It didn’t move up north to do that!)

Done at Osprey Marsh, a little park 10 minutes drive from my home.

Cool Facts
-Individual Canada Geese from most populations make annual northward migrations after breeding. Nonbreeding geese, or those that lost nests early in the breeding season, may move anywhere from several kilometers to more than 1500 km northward. There they take advantage of vegetation in an earlier state of growth to fuel their molt. Even members of "resident" populations, which do not migrate southward in winter, will move north in late summer to molt.

The most familiar and widespread goose in North America, the Canada Goose can be found in all kinds of water all across the continent, from the tundra to the Gulf Coast. Some populations have become resident in urban areas, and are now coming into conflict with people.

Large waterbird.
Black head.
Long, black neck.
White chinstrap.
Light tan to cream breast feathers.
Brownish back.
White undertail.

Love the pose and the small catch light in the eye.

This is s great moment caught Mario! The pose is excellent and so are details, exposure, composition and low POV. Birds are amazing at this time of year; I can see Cardinals molting actually and they are pretty funny to see with no feathers on their head :) Thanks,

Hi Mario,
Great shot of your Canadian goose. Perfect exposure. You brought out a lot of detail in dark colors without overexposing the light colors. BRAVO! Great eye contact and perfect glint of light in that eye. Great pose of subject with excellent sharpness and detail.

Very nice image.I loved the details in the plumage and i like the catch light in the eye.

I've seen a lot of Canada goose here in northeast Wisconsin, Mario, but never one molting like this. Great detail in the capture -- especially with the opening wings and that wonderful texture on the feathers. A solid, crisp image, and positioned well within the frame.
