[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
There are lots of these tower formations in the Tower area of Yellowstone National Park. As precarious and exposed to wind as the tops of these towers appear, many of them have been homesteaded by Osprey pairs. The nest is probably 5 feet in diameter. For more information on the Yellowstone osprey see yesterday's post.

I was attracted to the simple abstract composition and that little tree as the focal point revealing the nest behind it. That little tree is a testament to a species' will to survive despite all odds.

P.S. It has been brought to my attention that it isn't obvious as to just what the view from this nest is. This is a VERY tall tower (100+ feet) and the view would be looking far down the Yellowstone River Canyon. For another view of the canyon rim and towers see workshop photo

Hi Evelynn,
You mean the backwards view? :-)
I like the composition you made with the forms of the rocks, and the green colour accent given by the tree and the nest seen.
You had a good eye for the grey tone of the frame.
Well done and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hello evelynn !
I like this picture, with poor little tree, all alone on the rocks, along with this single nest. A bit of life in the middle of the cold stone. The rock formations are beautiful too. Composition and POV are wonderful ,as well as the nice natural colors. very well done !

Hello Evelynn

This is wonderful. The feeling of height is so well conveyed.I love the stark, rugged rock. The nest ,which I now know to be huge, looks miniature up there.I wonder what caused that white striation across the rock face? it must have been something of immense force.Imagine the determination of that tree to grow out of the rock tower like that! This shot is one that makes you stop and look and look and look.TFS

Awesome, Evelynn.
Very powerful visual impact, that shot.
Knowing how big that nest really is, and seeing your workshop photos, really help to get a feel of the grandeur and starkness of this scenery.
A good eye for this presentation, and excellent details and textures on those mind-bogling rocks.
As Jim says, thanks for doing all the hiking and hard work and sharing these incredible images with us. Few of us would ever get there on our own!
I know about your and Jerry's tenacity. : )

Hello Evelynn,
This is an unusual picture and how interesting. Amazing to see that this little tree can survive in this rather hostile environnement.
Amazing rock-shapes, really.
Best regards
Anne

Hi Evelynn,
Impressive shot showing form and texture but more importantly, the nest of the Osprey. The grandeur vastness and remoteness of the site says a lot for your determination, with the help of your husband, to capture this majestic view(Your photos in workshop at the previous posting are absolutely awesome). I hope you took many photos of this area as the majority of us will never experience anything so isolated and ruggedly beautiful. I'm envious of your experiences and memories of this very special spot.

Hi Evelynn,
These towers really look awesome and to have ones nest atop one of them should be great fun. I wonder how the Ospreys would be fighting among themselves to have the best peak. Glorious scene and you have captured it with sharp details and neat focus. Excellent POV (where were you perched??) and very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Evelynn. I like this a lot. The unusual rock formation and the top spot selected by the Ospray as a lookout-home. Excellent work. It would be good to see a zoom shot also. TFS. Murray.
