| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This guy hangs around a picnic area I fish at. He eats cheesies. His whole family hangs around as the den is nearby. They will come up to within 5 feet of you. They bolt easily though if you move suddenly. They will eat for a couple minutes and then run into the bush for a few minutes to see what you'll do next before coming out again for another 2 or 3 minutes to feed. They must also eat a lot of frogs as their droppings are slimey. They are so brave near cities that they actually come out on the road at times when cars go by to see if anyone will feed them from their car. I tried taking pictures of this one but it kept side-stepping as a percaution. It is a real foxtraught to get a good shot head on. LOL

I like this shot it captures a great moment. Good detail and clarity. I can sense the animals curiosity, i wonder if what resolution you used and if you could have cropped the photo to get the head shot.
Hello Trevor,
This is a good portrait of a nervous, yet curious fox! He certainly doesn't look overfed!
Lovely colours on his fur!
I think you have cropped it just a little close particularly at the right.
Possibly Antonia's suggestion of just a head shot would work!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Trevor, nice job capturing this fellow and filling the frame with him. I've seen a red fox twice -- both times running out of sight as rapidly as possible. As you say, they are prone to bolt. Good POV. The one thing that seems really in need of improvement is sharpness. I'm posting a workshop so that you can see the possibilities there. Might I suggest you also take a look at a couple of other examples of work on foxes, too -- say, Alexei's excellent example here: http://www.treknature.com/gallery/Europe/Ukraine/photo124850.htm and Rob Fry's Red Fox, http://www.treknature.com/gallery/North_America/Canada/photo124806.htm.
