Arabian tiger Snake 2
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Telescopus Dahara - Arabian tiger snake.
length: up to 130 cm, but most of the time less.
active time: night
food: birds and reptiles.
there is a claim that this snake look like the Palestine saw-scaled viper (Echis Coloratus) and make a mimicry when it feeling threatfully.
he can flattening his head until it looks like the triangle head of the venomous vipers. and his colors - red with white dots - is very similar to the colors of the Palestine saw-scaled viper.
I think that this is the most beautiful snake in israel. (and I saw some snakes here...).
this snake was catched when someone try to do illegal sell out of the country and the rangers of the National Parks Authority catch him when he try to fly from the country with the reptiles.
because nobody know wher this men catch the snakes they can't free them in the wild, so they give the animals to the Khai-Bar reserve for schooling the people.
this tiger snake is a young male (about 40 cm) really nice one (he give me two bites, but it's not hurt). in the Khai-Bar reserve no one knew how to care this snake so they give to "herp-men"to care him. |
