| I went on a solo hike in the Pentland Hills outside of Edinburgh Scotland. The thistle and foxgloves were everywhere (as were whatever variation of thorn bushes lined my very narrow path!). I love the color of the thistle "crown". |

Hi JD,
The backlighting makes great outlines for the stems and flowers where they are in focus, but I think the thistle-head in the forground detracts somewhat by not being sharp. I would have cropped the shot to exclude the blurry foreground, so the eye could concentrate on the sharp middle ground while keeping the nice OOF BG. Thanks

Hi JD,
I think that much of the picture works really well; the exposure, colours and the backlighting is great for emphasising the sharpness of the spikes. However, I think that it would have been better to focus on the flower heads in the foreground and than have a focus regress towards the background, blurring out gradually. I think that focussing on the middle distance, which is what you have done here, would have worked bettter if there had been more flowerheads behind. A good picture nonetheless though and pleased you shared it.
Kind regards,
Mike
