All right, after some digging, I think I've got an ID for this critter:
Genus: Bombus
Species: Griseocollis
I've found them all over Georgia, they are quite large and unaggressive. They are commonly called bumble bees or brown-belted bumble bees. As with all pictures I upload, if someone else thinks they have a proper ID, please let me know, and I'll change it.

Hello Matt,
a nice first picture with pretty good focus on the bumble bee's face. Colours appear very natural. With respect to composition, a little more space above and slightly less space to the right of the insect would have been advantageous.
