Description
Family : Lycaenidae
SubFamily : Lycaeninae
Common Name : Pygmy Grass Blue
Forms : -
This is the smallest butterfly found in Malaysia and Singapore. The average wingspan of the species is about 8-11 mm.
The upperside of the male is light blue whilst the female is dark brown. The butterfly has a weak fluttering flight and can usually be found on sunny days at flowering plants. The species loves Lantana blooms and stays around the flowers all day long. The food plant of the species is Mimosa pudica (Touch-Me-Not) weed. Due to its small size, the butterfly is often overlooked by collectors. |
