Common Crow

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi,
This Common Crow picture was shot at Bannerghatta Butterfly Park. For some reason, I did not have any picture of this beauty so far. This completes this gap.
Common Crows are in-edible which means that birds will not bother them. It has a beautiful silky coat on the wings making it very good looking. The Red-Indian head-gear like arrangement of white dots along the wing edges really give the Common Crows their beauty.
Here is something interesting about this butterfly that I learnt from Wikipedia. When a bird or insect attacks the butterfly, it pretends as if it is death. It also oozes out a liquid to make its act of death appear real. This makes the predators relax and causes predators to release them thinking that the Crow is dead. Once the predator releases the Crow, the Crow comes back to life miraculously and flies off. Clever, are they not?

Hello Murali,
I like the large Euploea-species and also the clear and sharp picture you post today. It is well focused and shows the natural colours of the butterfly. To bring the beauty of the species into focus it would have been advantageous to crop a little more. Perhaps, I will try a workshop later.
Best wishes, Peter
