[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Plecotus (teneriffae) kolombatovici- Balkan Uzunkulaklı Yarasası [TR], The Balkan Long-eared Bat [EN] has been accepted recently as a separate species. Formerly it was included into P. austriacus. Some authors also accept P. kolombatovici as species name. Most authors consider that the latter is a synonym and a subspecies of P. teneriffae.
The species ranges from Spain throughout the Balkans and Anatolia to the Levant.
Its ears are almost equal to body lenght.
Twins lactate their mother on the photo. It naturally roosted in an ancient articial ruin in rock chimney.
Photograph was scanned dia-film.

I wish to dedicate it to Ayşegül Gündüz who is a new member of TN and writes many critiques to my photographs on both of trakuş and TrekNature.

Hello Ahmet,
It is not difficult to see that I like bats, and I like to watch bat pictures. And this one is not an exception :) Great documentary picture at first - mother with her baby, it is not easy to take such photograph. Moreover, this image has a very good quality, including POV, DOF, details, sharpness, and light control. Only the BG is not natural but it is rathere less important. By the way, I can see that picture was not taken in the natural habitat, but where it was taken? During some studies?
Best regards,
Radomir

intereesting pic to look at. the long ears are impressive. It's fun to try and guess the position of the 2 twins.
A diffusor on the flash would have result in a better light. Excellent capture though.

Ahmet, an original picture indeed. I've never seen a similar one.

Great pov and composition. I've been looking for bats for quite a long time, but so far I couldn't find them.

Hello Ahmet,
I've missed this fantastic image showing Mum with her two young ones. I can't recall having seen this before either! Excellent sharp details and fine colours. I love the way the ears of the little ones are already so big!
Many thanks and regards, Ulla
