This time another photo from Antarctica and one more time with reference to my musical interests. In the land of grey and pink is the title of Caravan album from 1971. You can see the cover of this album here

I decided to post a double presentation because both shots are a little bit different. You can see another POV in my workshop.

It was rely fantastic and beautiful evening in Admiralty Bay. When I am looking at this photos now I must say that the original moment was so amazing that photography doesn’t show the real full impression.

I am not a physicist but I tried to find the information about a pink sunset.

The color of the sunset has to do with the way light from the sun enters our atmosphere. When the sun is overhead and the angle that the light enters is small, the shortest wavelength light (violet and blue) are bent slightly and are scattered by the air molecules and dust in the air to give us a blue sky. If there is a lot of dust in the air, more light is scattered making the sky appear less blue and sometimes even close to white. After a rain when the air is clean the sky is a much brighter blue. When the sun is setting, the light is passing through much more air than when the sun is overhead. More air allows more scattering of the light. Since the red light is scattered last the sunsets appear reddish. The more stuff in the air the prettier the sunsets. Since purple is at the shorter wavelength end of the spectrum, it is scattered first and little is left for the sunset. Sometimes when the conditions are right and there is reflection of the light off clouds high up in the atmosphere we can see some of the shorter wavelengths giving us those rare pinks and purples.

Hi Krysztof,
i like a combination of the two i think...i like the sky in this one better, but prefer the POV in the workshop! Both are great though and capture the mood of this place perfectly. i also like the fact that you haven't tried to alter the lighting and have kept it at this low level, creating a good atmosphere. Good notes too.
Paul

Hello Krzysztof
Very intersting scene you captured,
Perfect composition,lighting and POV,
Superb shot,Welldone.

Fartash

I have no idea of how or why you have been to these locations. I think perhaps it is second to outer space in who has been there. It looks cold and foreboding. I am reminded of the young doctor women who was stuck there with cancer a few years ago. Your pictures of theses areas amazes me. Wonderful capture of feeling which very few have ever seen.

Czesc Krzysiek!

Kolejne piekne zdjecie z niesamowitego miejsca. Porusza czystosc, nieskazitelnosc, bezludnosc. Wszystko jest takie nietkniete ludzka reka, niezanieczyszczone. Po raz kolejny powtorze - to musiala byc niezapomniana wyprawa! No i oczywiscie swietna notka, jak zwykle bardzo ciekawa i pouczajaca.

ps. wstyd przyznac, ale pierwszy raz w zyciu uslyszalem o Caravanie :-)

Hi Krystof

A really good composition with great colours. You really convey the atmosphere of Antactica!

James

Hi Krysztof, splendid view of land of ice with fascinating light, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Krysztof,
Another beautiful sight from Antarctica. Wonderful sight and color. Like the pov and the way you composed this picture.

The title fits the scene well Chris.
Desolate expansive beauty..
It looks bitterly cold, but the brightening sky adds the promise of some warmth, dividing the frame..I like it :)
Very well done.

Hi Krzysztof,
What a wonderful place this is - calm, peaceful and serene. Must be very very cold too. Lovely soft colours and lighting with crisp details. Great place to be in and you must have had the time of your life there. Excellent POV to portray this charming scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Chris,
This is a lovely «cold» winter picture. I like the point of view. The details of rocks are excellent. I post a workshop. I tried to accentuate the pink sky effect. I hope you will like it :-).
Thanks for your support,
Regards,

Claude

Hi Chris,
Both are beautiful captures. Lovely scenic view. The notes are also informative. One suggestion did you try the Pano shot of this? I think it will be just magnificent. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hola Krysztof.

Dobra trojdzielna kompozycja.
Serdecznosci,
Michal

Hello Krzysiek,
fantastic combination of colours in a landscape. Never seen anything like that before. Two powerful and impressing documents of strong emotional appeal. The workshop photo would well deserve to be presesnted on its own. With thanks, and best regards,
Peter

Hi Krzysztof.
I like your nice note, title and, of course, next Antarctic shot. You can to show the beauty of these severe places. Nicely selected POV, pleasant not cold (at this time) colour palette, excellent details of the landscape. My best wishes and TFS. Well done.
Alexei.
