Platano Piccioni
Si trova lungo la Salaria, presso Ascoli. Così chiamato dal nome del bandito che, secondo la tradizione, si nascondeva all’interno del suo tronco cavo.
Di aspetto imponente ha una circonferenza di 8,1 metri ed è alto 18 metri.
L’esemplare di Platanus orientalis, secondo sempre la tradizione è stato piantato dai Crociati al ritorno dalla Terra Santa.
Qui, con l'approssimarsi dell'inverno, l’albero senza foglie rivela in pieno la sua possente struttura.
E' l'albero più grande delle Marche e, prpbabilmente, il più grande e vecchio platano d'Italia.
