Heres the Heron that lives in front of my house. Well , okay he doesn't live there but hes been there all summer, oh I see him fly off in bad weather but he comes back when it clears. Hes got a buddy down the road about 1/2 a mile around the corner. I walk my dogs everyday and walk back on the beach so this time I tried to get as close as I could, still too far but I zoomed in , no tripod with me since I had the dog . This is a cropped verison of the photo. Before the weather gets too bad, I might just plop myself down on the beach with the tripod and sit and wait for him to wander on by me, I'll bring a can of sardines with me...ha ha
For those who don't know, I live on the shores of Lake Erie on the Canadian Side.

Hi Donna!
Who doesn't love sardines? I can't think of anyone...Nice lighting on this one. Composed well, a very calm like atmosphere. TFS!

First off let me say I envy you ( I think) for living lakeside.
You must see excellent things each day.
It might be colder than inland, but wow.
This is a really good view and composition.

Hello Donna,
Those birds get quickly accustom to people!
Seems like he is looking for the next meal, and the access to food is his main reason to remain there...
A nicely composed presentation!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Donna

Alovely composition - it has the feel of a Japanese print with the brightness contrasted with the rocks. The heron is a great focus to the shot.

I live by a river and we have two herons who live close by. Every morning I walk my dog along the bank and every morning the one I have nicknames Arthur is standing in the same position on the bank. He takes off and lands twice during my walk - I can never figure out why he doesn't make just one journey!

James

Hi Donna,

A nice image of the heron and of lake Erie, the photo has a good composition, sharpness and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

I too shoot without a tripod. They tend to get in my way. I do have one but rarely use it. A very nice capture of this bird Donna...oh yes and red in the AM. I hear weather there has taken a turn? At least in W Ohio.
Bob

Hello Donna

I spent a few years chasing great blue herons, and came to the conclusion they have small eyes under their feathers somewhere on the back of their heads.lol.A lovely composition showing this heron fishing in it's natural habitat.I like the big rock .Very good sharpness and focus.TFS

Rob

Hello Donna,
Thanks for your critique on my damselfly picture.
I was a bit confused about your reference to a phone and a bridge in the picture; they are actually decorative plants in our garden. Broad yellow blades with green lines on them.

This is a very attractive image of a heron whom you have been watching in front of your house for quite some time. It is a lovely composition with those rocks sticking out of water.
Thanks for sharing and best regards.

Hi Donna,
Splendid shot and I like the natural feel about this place. The Heron does seem to be lonely and in great ernest. Very interesting rock there and those distant cottages are just about right to balance the frame. Superbly controlled soft lighting and a great POV. Very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.
