Made it back safely

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
We have a swallow's nest above the front door under the eaves. Every autumn the swallows fly north and every spring we wait with nervous anticipation for them to come back.
When the time arrived for their return this summer, I walked out of the door early one morning and there they where, happily twittering on the telephone wire.
Now we'll have a lovely summer watching the swallow pair bringing up their young. What a sight it is, when with a flurry of wings they aim for the nest entrance and dissappear into it, only to emerge seconds later to catch the next meal for their offspring.
Greater Striped Swallow Hirundo cucullata is a common summer resident in Southern Africa. It is identified by its chestnut cap, pale chestnut rump and lightly streaked underparts which appear almost white in flight.
The call, uttered in flight is a soft 'chissik'.
They are seen in pairs when breeding, otherwise they form small flocks over open terrain, montane grassland, near culverts, rocky koppies and human habitation.
They fly with much gliding and perch frequently on trees and wires.
They are about 20 cm long.

Hi Irmgard.
Looking up is always a hard one but you have done great that you have a catch-light in the eye and we see all the lovely feather detail and colour of the breast of this swallow.
Beautifully exposed with sharpness and detail.
It is great to see the seasonal birds come back again and we get to enjoy them for their stay.
