Another dip into the archives for this and another promise that, as soon as I get my house painting done (I thought I'd be finished last night), I shall be back to your lovely images. Please forgive me!

This capture, now over a month old, comes from a stretch of road that will be hugely changed within the next five years. Toronto is a rapidly growing city, expanding northward in a vast ripple effect of one mile every ten years. This lovely bit of woodland will vanish beneath bulldozers all too soon. The closest housing development is less than a quarter mile away already.
And the lone mailbox that you can see by the roadside here will also vanish. The mail will be delivered to "Super Mailboxes" located in clusters half a mile away.

Progress??

Tech: composed in camera, shot in RAW, converted, resized, sharpened, framed and signed

Thanks for looking and for your patience with me

Yes you are right we do have the same message for today and I agree with yours...Since I was a child I somehow knew instinctively that overpopulation would be our final demise...and if not us, then at least those things which surround us with beauty as your picture clearly shows and explains. A good lesson, An important one for people to think of..Very good Silke..VERY good!

No, not progress imo, but imagine the problems we have in this small country in protecting our countryside. 60 million people and counting..immigration is set to massively increase the population here too...so i also ask, progres??
Anyway, it is no small miracle that you have caught this scene for posterity then. Such wonderful colours against a dash of blue...it would go well as a set with my latest post i think!

Hello Silke,
Great composition and delightful autumn colours in this shot: sad that the developers are on the way. But the same is happening round us too.
I suppose Toronto has expanded enormously since I was there in the 60's. Young st. must be twice as long!
Thanks and good luck with the house painting,
Ivan

Silke,
I love all the colors you have captured. Very well done.
The comp and attention to detail is splendid.

Hello Silke,
The same thing is happening here - in our forest next door 22 new luxury houses are being built and more are to come! There seems to be too much money about and too little interest to save our planet!
This is a beautiful composition and the colours are fantastic!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hello Silke,
A frame full of beautiful autumn colours!
And you were obviously blessed with this wonderful blue sky too...
A well framed documantation of the season!

Hi Silke

All the leaves have gone now here, but there was a stunning sunrise this morning.

Great picture with wonderful colours, but definitely not progress.

Hello Silke

This one has a special meaning for me,I was a rural carrier for Canada Post 20 years ago.Fond memories.
The colours are striking in this shot,so vibrant and bright.
The contrast between the blue sky and the orange leaves is wonderful.
