Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone is having a great week! As for me I am back home and thanks to the Holiday I won't travel for at least a week, that makes me happy!

Ok, this shot was taken 5 days ago, sorry been on the road and have not had a chance to get out for more shots. But I will be getting out this week for sure. I know some will not like that I did not remove the leaf from the shot, believe me I thought long and hard about removing it but in the end I like the splash of color that it added. So call me eccentric, but it worked for me. Be interested to know from the rest of you if you think leaving the leaf in works or not. Alright then you all have a great week and for those celebrating a Happy Thanksgiving and I will catch up with you all out on the site. Later

Greg

Encore une excellente composition ! Le background est magnifique et la feuille d'automne donne du volume à la photo.

Hello Gregory,

This composition is very carefully done with great autumnal colors and very pleasant focus.
Thank you!

Hello Gregory, this is a fine composition showing the Woodpecker. I like the diagonal of the branch, topped off with a beautiful autumn leaf. (you were right not to remove it, it is a nice graphical and colour element) The woodpecker is nice and sharp, good detail and colour with a perfect pov.
Great dof and lovley background.

Great notes too!

Hi Greg

Another very clever backyard shot. You certainly get some cool species in your backyard. Well captured with great composition and sharpness.
As for the leaf, I don't know either it looks OK with or without it. It will be intereseting to see what the concensus think.

Hi Greg,
A high class image!
I like the excellent details got on the bird, nice light and pose.
Certainly the colour that the leaf adds to the composition works great for me.
As for the form, I'm not sure if seeing more of the leaf and its whole shape would have been useful. Perhaps it was too big and may be compete with the bird.
My compliments and thanks for share it.
Happy thanksgiving to you and family.
Best reagrds,
JM

Hello Gregory,
I think it is better with the leaf:
1. photogenic leaf:-)
2. compo is better; more balanced.
3. there are no other 'distracting' elements in the image.
Very good work

Hello Gregory,
Beautiful sharp photo of this Woodpecker. Excellent colours, also in the BG. Very good composition and POV.

Peter

I for one love the inclusion of the red leaf. A touch of red is often just the spark an image needs to get it real impact. I also like the way your little bird is looking up to it. It gives a place for his gaze to land. Masterful work..... again!

Hi Gregory,
Wonderful portrait shot with such awesome details and lovely colours. Looks majestic. The neutral BG looks great and provides a fine base for the subjects to stand out. The red leaf adds nice colours and adds a fine perspective. Superb lighting and exposure. Excellent POV to portray it and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Greg

Nie to see you back my friend and especially with such an aestetic post!
I actually like the fact that you left the leaf there - as Annick said, it really balaces the composition well.
Superb exposure and well balanced light, great details and perfect DOF.
Again very nice notes on how you took the shot - always appreciated.
Good luck in taking some outstanding photos this weekend!

Cheers and TFS
Horia
