Today I have for you a photo of Mule Deer Buck taken behind the local cemetery which is where High River's bird sanctuary is located.I see deer here in High River all of the time but seldom do I see male deer and I do not know the reason why. This buck had his eyes on me the whole time I was photoing him and he didn't seem all that concerned by my presence as he was as near as 15 feet away from me.I think he was like me, very curious about what I was doing and we two got along very well.Wild animals can sure be surprising at times and totally unpredictable in ways that are very pleasing, but don't be fooled even by deer as they can severely hurt you if spooked or trapped and that applies to the females as well.He was a good fellow and I took over 100 photos of him before I left him in peace.Mule deer are common in the area where I live and sometimes herds of them will walk right past the place I live and through the core of town as well.Cropped, resized with the rgb curve pulled down a wee bit and slightly sharpened using Paint.Net.

Hi Bob
This is a great capture of the Buck. That is really cool he let you get so close you must have captured some really beautiful shots including this one. Very good focus with lots of sharp detail. Great pose I really like the eye contact.
Very well done and thanks for sharing.
Tom

Hi Bob
Wow, does this Buck ever have a nice set of velvet covered Antlers. I like the way he's looking right into your camera. The composition and colours is awesome. Well done.

The poor guy looks like he has mange by the way he's missing hair on his back and neck. Mange is a type of mite that is painful for animals. I'm not sure how a deer would get rid of mange.

Hello Bob

A wonderful shot of this buck.I agree with you ,the male white-tailed deer are far outnumbered by the females.
The composition is excellent, and the pose captures his apprehensive curiosity towards you.
The clarity is exceptional, right down to the texture of the velvet on his impressive rack.
Wonderful eye contact.
Excellent POV and DOF.
