ciuffi di peli irritanti gialli o bruno chiaro sul dorso.Si sviluppa su vari alberi e arbusti ed e' diffusa in Europa Asia temperata e Stati Uniti.

La farfalla
I maschi di questa specie sono riconoscibili per le ali bruno rossicce,mentre le femmine sono pressoche' prive di ali.
