[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today I was out and about checking out our first snowfall when I came across this red tail hawk. It seems kind of odd as I approached him he just calmly sat there and let me get fairly close to him. Between the lighting and snow.I was kind of having a hard time getting a really good shot but overall considering the circumstances I think it turned out okay.
This was hand held, slightly cropped and sharpened. Thanks for looking hope you enjoy.

Hi Tom,
very nice portrait shot of the red tailed hawk. You have very good detail and natural colour in this photo and it is crisply focused as well. These birds are very common here where I live but not at this time of year however as they migrate south for the winter for the most part.Red tails do let you get fairly near to them and if you get too close they let out their famous shriek warning before taking to flight.Tfs,Tom. Hi Tom,

Did you take this at Ridgefield? He looks familiar... but I suppose most Red tails would look a bit familiar. : )
It didn't snow here in Salem... just rain. It is a nice shot. I might have cropped a bit off the top to give Mr. Hawk a bit more stature.

Tom,

Very nice. Very difficult shot. You did very well here.

Scott

Yes Tom...I like how the background is natural and colored without taking away from the focus point. Changing the background to neutral would have taken away from the whole image. This is just fine.. a good snap. So you had snow eh? Yeah..tell me about it..It will warm over there..not here! You get river floods..good picture op!

Hello Tom,
They like to go out during snowfalls, the only times I have seen them when was it was snowing :) This is a beautiful and precious capture with superb details, excellent colors, POV and composition. Well seen!
