Anagyris foetida
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| According to studies carried out in Spain, Anagyris foetida i spollinated by birds. The most important pollinators were Phylloscopus collybita, Sylvia atricapilla and S. melanocephala. The pollen loads carried by the birds were high, as were also the loads transferred to the pistil. The fruit-set of bagged flowers was very low, evidence of the plant's need for the birds as pollinators. This is the first proof of the existence of a native European bird-pollinated plant! |

Hi Pentti,
Lovely picture and interesting note.
You failed to mention the peculiar stench of this shrub, as the Latin tells you...
Cheers!

Hi Pentti,
I think I have lots of this bush near my house. A perfect photo that shows the plant with great details and natural colours.
