I spotted this female Blackbird (Turdus merula) last week, when she moved really close to me. I had a few seconds to take a quick shot, before she flew away. It's not the best shot ever, but i still like it, because i finally got close to this bird!
The blackbird is a very common bird in the Netherlands, and the rest of europe, asia and north africa.
The male is totally black with a bright orange beak and an orange ring around his eyes. The female (as you can see) is brown with a brown beak.
The blackbirds feed on insects and worms, but also berries and seeds. It's got a lovely song which can be heard in the well-known song 'blackbird' from the Beatles:)
I hope you like this picture, and please tell me what you think of it. your comments are always welcome!
