I didn't know there were flying squirrels in Texas, Howard! :))
I see what you mean when you prefer another POV but this is pretty good and the timing and sharpness is great and the glimpse of the branch in the corner gives the leap a good perspective.
Look forward to see him fly wearing a leather helmet and goggles!

Fantastic moment! Interesting exposure - when I met squirrels it was to dark to use 1/1250 sec even when ISO was 1600.
Good sharp, narural colors, nice backgroud

Hi Howard,
you see, i'd be really happy with this...but you want to try again to get a different POV..ever the professional ;o)
Super sharp with beautiful colours and good detail, despite the lack of light. I actually really like the diagonal positon of this leaping chaps position from top right to bottom left.. i await your next attempt!
cheers,
Paul

Hello Howard !
Wow, what an amzing shot ! The squirrel is perfectly 'frozen' in the air, with excellent sharpness and many many details in the fur. His pose is fatastic. I also like the composition and the blurred BG wvery much - makes the squirrel stand out very nicely. Beautiful warm colors too. Very well done !

Hello Howard,
Excellent and well-timed capture of this "flying" squirrel. They're incredibly agile animals - we often watch our squirrels here chasing each other and taking long jumps between the pine trees. You've captured his "style" very nicely and details are very sharp. Fine colours of the fur and I like the way you've left a bit of the branch in view.
Many thanks, Ulla

Funny moment you have captured here. A half second earlier you might have caught him just leaving the branch. As far as the aviators cap goes, you could always photoshop one in and post to the WS.

Hi Howard
Here's your little Rocky ;) Nice to see him "online" :)
I don't know exactly why you say you needed an even shorter shutter speed...this one seems great enough for me, but i'm going to take you word for it...after all, you're the one that's "got" him :)
I also must agree with Paul...this shot would have made me a very happy, but for you, it only make you crave for more...the pursue of perfection is definitely something that defines you and i must applaud you for that!
Splendid work my friend!
Bravo and TFS

Ha! Ha! This is a funny shot, you really are the action specialist on TN! When I think of all the blurred action shots I have in my archives, I am so happy to see yours that are nicely composed, sharp and beautifully lit. He looks like a rocket and yes, I remember Rocky and Bullwinkle, that was among my favourites! Thanks and I am waiting to see more of this little rocket.

Hello Howard,
Wow!!! You did the shot that I want to do, my friend!!! :-)
1/1250s was a perfect choice in order to have the squirrel perfectly frozen in the air! The fur is full of details and you mastered perfectly the exposition in order to obtain perfect natural colors! The nice bg compliments greatly the animal too!
Great shot!!! Next challenge: To have it jumping toward you :-)
Cheers!

Marvelous shot! I love all the detail visible on his back feet. This is super, Howard. As for the aviator's cap, it's totally possible...But you'd have to post the results at TrekLens. LOL
