[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of my last images I took in 2007. It was taken in Maninska poort (canyon) near Zaskalie village, which is only few meters wide at some places.

Ice formations were around 30cm thick, which is a result of weeks of really cold weather. I was really surprised to find a lush of green in the stream, the water was absolutely freezing cold (Donīt ask me how I know :-)

This shot took I while to create. I had to experiment, which focal length would allow me to compose the scene perfectly and then find the best exposure: aperture small enough to achieve desired depth and shutter speed not too long, so there is a nice detail in the moving water. If the exposure was too long, water would be just a white mass without any details.

Technical details:
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Tokina 28-70 F2.8 ATX Pro set at 60mm
Shutter Speed: 1/4sec
Aperture: F14
ISO: 100
Other: tripod, spirit level, mirror lock up, cable release

Hi Juraj
Welcome to TrekNature!
It's great to see running water in the winter. You've captured lots on interesting textures and colours. Nice composition and good note. Well done.

Welcome to TN Juraj.
Well done image here. You acheived excellent focus of the ice and the time you took to adjust exposure paid off well to get some detail in the blurred water. Good job of composing and with lighting also. The ice forms are quite interesting and the blurred water is a pleasing contrast. TFS.
