[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm not sure but I think this is a female Black-Chinned Hummingbird. I took this photo in Phoenix Arizona the week after Christmas while visiting my daughter and son-in-law..
There was a light frost that hit the area the night before which killed some of my daughters outdoor flowers. I took a walk early in the morning and it was still pretty chilly out.
I came across this little fella just sitting on a branch soaking up some sun. He or rather she (I guess) seemed to be content enough to allow me to get within 8 feet. I had my telephoto lens on so you can see that I was able to fill up the frame with its image.
I live in Ohio where we have the Ruby Throated Hummingbird and that's about all I've ever seen. This one reminds me of one of our females that feed outside our window every day back home in the summer months.
The only thing I did was to sharpen the image slightly.

Hi Ron,
You captured excellent details on this tinny beauty! Composition and colors are beautiful! Use of ISO 400 has created a little noise especially on the background. I would have removed it with Neat Image but this is a minor nit for such a nice capture.

PS You have great shots in your gallery, if I may suggest something, I think that you should write a little more comments about other's people work and you'll see that they'll get back to your wonderful pictures ;) Cheers!

That light green is so surprising and wonderful. Love the sharp detail with the soft colors and silky bokeh. Great capture.

Nice take. Somehow a different in angle did not make the front portion blur, you managed to keep the whole subject clear. Well done. Just that exposure is a little high.
