[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I used a regular 35mm lens for this shot. Believe it or not, the snow covered tree stands about 35 feet. When compared to the tree behind it, I thought WOW - and realized how how ravashing, yet awesome nature can be. Seeing the two together gave me the name for this photo. I didn't alter it and yes, this is my front yard. Whether or not this tree will survive is a guess, but I hope so. Many birds have nested in that tree for years. In spite of the destruction, I still find this scene beautiful. With it still snowing outside when I shot this, I don't feel I did it justice. I do hope you enjoy it though.

Hi Kathy

Nice to see a new photo from you again.

A very interesting choice for a posting. To a degree I think it is rather indicative of your current situation. You could have also called it "Carrying the Load". Sometimes we don't realise how heavy the burdens are that we carry and how much does it actually make us stoop under the weight. Remember that pliability has its limits and one needs to take care that the necessary support structures is in place to ensure our durability and sustainability. Think about it.

The snow certainly pushed this tree to its limit and I hope for your part that it can endure the onslaught and survive the ordeal. Excellent exposure control resulted in good contrasts and it ensured that there are very limited or only a couple of small areas of OE considering that most of the photo is really nothing else but pure white snow. Good details throughout stemming from the very appropriate f/13 aperture setting.

Well done and TFS
Regards
Loot

That's a lot of snow, my dear!
Lovely shot - great contrasts and shapes. Nature is amazing - - - this site is a wonderful collection of her displays of might.
