This frozen time will someday
melt, I pray...
For I wish to move on.
No more cold,
oh, Lord I pray. -Heavenly etal

A Lodgepole Pine which has fallen into a small pond in the wetlands area of the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. It fell because it was diseased and suffered through a harsh windstorm last winter. On this winter day, it's remains are frozen in its own memorial.

There is not way to truly count the tree which fall of natural causes every year. Trees which fall or die by the hand of man and large corporations are a tremendous addition to the total...and I found the following on a link which I frequent when searching for environmental answers...

A Daniel Rhéaume, Charlesbourg, Québec asked:
How many trees does it take to convert the carbon dioxide produced by a car travelling 20 000 kilometers per year to oxygen?
The answer was:
Assume the vehicle has a fuel efficiency of 10L per 100/km. This means it will use 2000 L in one year (to drive 20000 km). Burning 1 L of gasoline emits 2.5 kg of carbon dioxide. Thus the vehicle will emit about 5000 kg of in one year. An average mature tree will absorb about 4.5-5 kg carbon dioxide per year. Thus you need about 1000 mature trees to absorb the carbon dioxide emitted by the vehicle.

Hi Bob, I stayed about five minutes in front of this great picture of yours. The colours, the colours make me nuts! What a beautiful composition, everything is there, soft and calm. When will this book of yours be printed out? You already have all the texts to go along with each image.

Francine

Hello Bob,
Well, we can all try and help save the trees by using an ethanol-driven car although that is not a final solution. Along our motorways and major roads here the trees are turning brown due to the salt on the wintery roads.
Lovley colours in this composition.
TFS and regards,Ulla

Hello Bob
An enigmatic picture with a thought provoking note...
Perfect framing with a balance of fg midground and bg displaying the point of your note with a touch of class as only you can do.
(any luck with the flash on the falling snow?)

Hello Bob,
With it's death it supports life, insects and water bugs use it for shelter and a place to lay eggs. Then it will eventually turn to compost and support plant and tree life.
Thanks for the fine image my friend.

Hi Bob

Lovely composition and thoughtful note. The colours are great - especially as there is a lot of ice.

Best wishes

James

PS I have been James since I left school - at school there were so many James' that we all had nicknames - mine didn't travel!!

Namastay Bob,
A very nice capture of this dried pine tree surrounded by snow. The title suits it well. Very good composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Sincerely
Haraprasan
