Continuing on our journey down to the base of the Springbrook National Park we arrived at this little plateau, and were greeted with these massive rock boulders, trickling water falls, with tall ferns reaching up though to the sky.
The only sounds of the forest were the occasional songs of some of the 100 bird species including rare and threatened species.
The forces of nature have taken thousands of years to carve a spectacular landscape of cliffs, gorges and waterfalls around the Springbrook Plateau just behind central Gold Coast.
Covering around 3000ha, the protected Springbrook National Park embraces landscapes of spirited waterfalls, meandering creeks, walls of rainforest and rare scenery.
The Yugambeh people lived in the valley for 6000 years, and today Aboriginal names remain as are a reminder that this is still a special place for indigenous people.
