[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi Everyone I some more photos from yesterday's shoot of the bald eagles.I dedicate these photos to Francine Malo (NinaM,here on TN.)The main photo shows a pair of bald eagles, one an adult and an immature bird on the left hand side. These birds are sure a sight to behold and I can never tire of seeing them.Highly alert and skittish they are a challenge to get close to.They give no warning sounds like the Red Tailed Hawks do but just simply fly off.If it were not for crunchy ice and snow as well as leaf litter under my feet I may well have been able to get closer for better detail but they heard me and flew off.I got to within 100 feet or so from them while they were perched in the tree.About the darkish patches seen in the background, they are just very out of focus tree limbs from the tree behind this one. I have two more photos in the workshop.I hope that you enjoy these photos and of course Francine you as well. All photos were cropped, resized and slightly sharpened using Paint.Net. Bob

Hi Bob
Good shot of the Eagles. For the past three weeks I have been watching them at the refuge. There are 5 that have been hanging around. I have posted a few shots of them. I love seeing them in the wild. They are at the top of my list of Birds of pray. Very nice capture!!

Hello Bob,
Though I have seen pictures of bald eagles, I have never come across a juvenile one. So thanks for sharing this shot :). What you said is quite true, one can never get tired of seeing this bird. I have never seen a bird more majestic looking than the Bald Eagle. It's a good capture. Enjoyed the shots in Workshop too. The close up in flight shot is superb.
Thanks once again,
Regards,
Smitha.

How fun to have the eagles nearby. We have one nesting pair here where I live but they are very elusive. I can see that they will entertain you. Do they stay there year round?

Do you find that you use the "live view" feature on your a 40D?

Hello Bob,
This is a fine couple and well captured together!
I like the composition and the interaction between the birds...
I also notice the great weather, here it has been raining for weeks... not much but still!
Greetings,

Hé Bob, that is very kind of you to dedicate to me this picture as I told you I love those birds. Yes, I envy you, look at those beauty, with a juvenile. I sure love this picture, this is a sight I never see! I am impressed at the inflight in the workshop, this is a great one! Thank you so much!

Francine

Hi BOb,
Quel beau couple, magnifique composition, beaux détails, couleurs superbes.
Bravo
Marie

Nice work getting them focused with all those branches in front. Although they do not scream before taking off, they do defecate. All raptors do this to "lighten the load" before they fly. So you do have some warning when they are about to fly.

Getting close to them is not so much a matter of not making any noise as it is appearing to not pay any attention to them. For some reason bald eagles will allow you to approach within 20' or so if you do not look at them. That includes the camera lens, too, which looks to birds like a giant eye that blinks every time you look through the viewfinder.

Nice control of the whites here. Not too much burned out.

hello Bob

excellent shots of the bald eagles, but the one that i love most
and even if it is from far, it is the first image of the workshops
the one the eagle on flight and viewing the image
we can imagine the fast speed, TFS
