A young Chacma baboon. Photographed in sunset light.
It is quite a crop. Compared to the image posted yesterday I adjusted the blacks a tad more, using the black slider in the develop module in Adobe Lightroom.

Range

The Chacma Baboon is found in southern Africa, ranging from South Africa north to Angola, Zambia, and Mozambique. Size and color vary within that range. The Cape Chacma (P. ursinus ursinus) from southern South Africa is a large, heavy, dark brown baboon with black feet. Another subspecies, the Gray-footed Chacma (P. u. griseipes), is present from northern South Africa to southern Zambia. It is slightly smaller than the Cape Chacma, lighter in color and build, and has gray feet. The Ruacana Chacma (P. u. ruacana) is found in Namibia and southern Angola, and generally appears to be a smaller, less darkly colored version of the Cape Chacma.

Hello Annick, another great shot of this very impressive animal! Very sharp, great light and exposure and a perfect background, thanks!

Mario

Very nice image....

Hello Annick,
Though technically the adult Baboon's pic is better than this one, I like this young fellow. It looks so cute. Even for a crop your picture is very sharp with good details . Wonderful light and a beautiful background. Seeing your shots I really want to persuade Anil to switch from Nikon to Canon.( So far I have not been able to convince him much, but I see your pictures are bringing in a change.(Chuckle!) keep posting your wonderful shots and who knows he might change his mind.:))
TFS and Regards,
Smitha.

What an intense look on this little fellow's face... The subtle colors and patterns of the BG are gorgeous.

Hi Annick,
I have never had the chance to see wild monkeys... Are Baboons monkeys? Anyway, this is a very nice portrait of this cute fellow with good composition, beautiful details and agreeable tones of colors. You caught a funny surprised look :) Do you know how many pictures you took during your trip to Kruger? Well seen!

Hi Annick

Another great portrait of a baboon from you, my friend!
They really are great subjects and here you show us a nice young one in the best evening light possible! Due to that, all the colors look amazing and, again, those eyes really pop out of the image :)
You did great in post processing - the shot looks exceptional here and even if i didn't see it before, i'm sure it's much better ;)
Nicely done!

Bravo and TFS

Hello annick,
Superb work once again my friend, those eyes are captivating. It does look as though he needs to grow into his ears, just like I did when I was young. Thanks Annick for the great notes and marvelous image.
