Finally, I am posting a recent picture. This one I took yesterday with my new bridge camera! I took some pictures of Gugusse who showed up, yelling and stumping to be able to get close of the feeder. He didn't appreciate my proximity but by the end of summer, I am sure he won't mind anymore.

I noticed on his head's left side, he seems to be hurt, there are three "holes" in the fur and there seems to have been blood in there. We don't always realize the struggle these small creatures have to deploy in nature even though we see them frequently and project our own feeling of security... we don't live in a "security" world and they are the first ones to know.

He's got scratches a little all over, hair is missing and I can remember clearly how perfect he was at the beginning of winter.

What amazes me is how they come out of their wounds quick because would it be otherwise they couldn't survive... even more in hostile weather like winter up here.

Yet our Gugusse is still there with light at the tip of his nose... and he is a boy, I have pictures to testify ;-)) Go and check the workshop. I am glad to know for sure now!

There is also a black squirrel coming to the feeders. I see him in a big spruce in the back of the house and I am not sure but there seems to be a nest or something where he goes all the time. With all the snow on the ground, I cannot get close but I will try to find out. I really wish I could post a picture of this beautiful squirrel, he looks like a black cat.

That's it for today, I hope you enjoy Gugusse's hello to you all!

I just know you will love that Leica...I did some re-reading on it the other day and the balance of pros and cons favored this image well..The colours are deep and rich and the focus is right where I like it, no more, no less...It is always exciting with new cameras...I can sense it in your picture and notes...Very nice Francine...well wishes to you in the bountiful natural Quebec!

Love the photo - but then, I love squirrels! Wonderful pose and good use of light. The texture of his fur is there - and enjoy watching him. They are funny creatures with an unusual sense of humor. Nicely done.

Hello Francine,
Excellent capture of this little Squirrel nicely in focus in the Spruce. Beautiful light and colours and details are very sharp too. Your new camera works well!! I think these little chaps like a good fight - we often see them chasing each other in the tall Pine trees here.
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hallo Francine
What a delightful and pleasant shot of this most friendly looking squirrel. A real feast to the eye, and a most pleasurable scene. It is as if this guy was posing specially for your lens. I like the position you have captured this one from the front, showing plenty of details to appreciate. The big black eyes with the white circles so clearly visible. The cute little nose and ears, the whiskers and slightly visible the furry tail. I like the green leaves of the tree it is on. It compliments the colours of the squirrel and brings it out better. Good focus and framing, presented in a delightful manner. It is as if you having a ball of a time with your new camera, and enjoying it so much. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hello My Friend,
Superb image of this cute Red Squirrel on the evergreen bough. The color is incredible and the sharpness is fantastic. I think these guys are so cute and are great fun to watch as they go about their business. When Jaz my border collie is with me they torment her to no end, playing pecaboo around tree trunks, she ends up tired and with sap all over her paws. This is a very beautiful first image with your new camera.
Rick

Salut Francine,

Hi Francine

Sorry i haven't had any time for TN recently :( and i only found a small break today to attend to some of the superb posts i missed lately...

Congratulations for you new camera and in my opinion, too, you made an excellent choice. I still miss my little Canon S2 sometimes and i can assure you it will bring you a lot of great photos (plus the obvious pleasure of traveling light) :)

This is a very nice shot with it and hopefully the first of many more great ones to come.
I really like the posed that you've captured here and that little details that is the "cherry on top of the cake" - the light on its nose tip :) It makes him even more adorable :)
The details are very neat and sharp and i know how great it feels to be able to get such a clear shot and such a long focal length handheld at 1/125 :))
So, overall, this is a lovely shot and i wish you all the best with you new toy!

Bravo, TFS and take care
Horia

They come out of their wounds quick because of their independent of a doctor. Someday you will recognize it's true. Very good composition, Francine.
I'm looking forward to see your cute black squirrel from the back of your house.:))
